Bellingham Traverse offers new company Spawnsored Teams for company visibility and opportunity to raise funds for local non-profit of their choice

BELLINGHAM, WA, USA – 2 Sept 2009 – The Traverse strategic multi-media campaign will highlight companies locally and reach across the Pacific Northwest. Connection with this charitable event demonstrates their commitment to the local economy, our natural resources and building community.

Spawnsored Company Teams to date include REI Bellingham, Bellingham Tennis Club & Fairhaven Fitness, Boundary Bay Brewery, Nimbus Restaurant, Cascade Joinery, La Vie en Rose, Kulshan Cycles, Adventures NW Magazine, Community Food Coop and more forming weekly.

Company Spawnsored Teams bring employees together to form a team of 1 to 5 people to participate in this fun, multi-sport race. Teams need a Runner (or 2); a Mountain Biker, a Road Biker and a Paddler (kayak or canoe). The whole company can get behind the team as support crew and fans and show off company colors on Race Day.

Companies select a Charity of Choice and 100% of their pledge drive efforts will go to their chosen non-profit, providing the company the opportunity to have a greater impact with their annual giving and recognition for their efforts.

The Bellingham Traverse has partnered with the Cascadia Weekly to help increase participation and highlight businesses that are active in our community.

About the Bellingham Traverse:

The Traverse is an endurance multi-sport race that takes inspiration from the life journey of salmon. Soloists, tandem and relay teams compete for survival on the course that demonstrates the urban and natural challenges that salmon face in their journey.

The course follows the urban greenways and roads through Bellingham, showcasing the city's parks including Boulevard Park, Lake Padden, Fairhaven, and Marine Park. The course then heads out into the open water of Bellingham Bay finishing at a hidden beach at the end of Cornwall Avenue that is where all teams gather to finish the last leg together as they "trek" the last 1/2 mile to the finish line at the Depot Market Square and Boundary Bay Brewery. Traverse Ale is fresh and on tap at the Awards ceremony into the evening.
